Humanity United Action endorses the Youth, Peace, and Security Act of 2020

Humanity United Action applauds the introduction of H.R. 6174, the Youth, Peace and Security Act of 2020, on March 10, 2020. H.R. 6174, sponsored by Representatives Grace Meng (D-NY), Susan Brooks (R-IN), Dean Phillips (D-MN), and John Curtis (R-UT), recognizes the critical role young people play in preventing and addressing violent conflict. This bipartisan bill requires the State Department and the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to develop and implement a whole-of-government strategy to promote youth participation in peacebuilding and conflict prevention efforts. In addition, the legislation establishes the creation of a youth coordinator position at USAID to lead the implementation of the strategy.

Humanity United Action thanks the bill’s sponsors for their leadership on this important issue and calls on Congress to pass H.R. 6174.
