HUA applauds advancement of the Global Fragility and Violence Reduction Act

Humanity United Action applauds the passage of H.R. 5273, the Global Fragility and Violence Reduction Act, by the House Foreign Relations Committee. H.R. 5273, originally introduced by Representatives Eliot Engel (D-NY), Mike McCaul (R-TX), Ted Poe (R-TX), Adam Smith (D-WA), Bill Keating (D-MA), and Paul Cook (R-CA), establishes an interagency initiative focused on preventing and reducing root causes of violence around the world. This bill takes important steps to shift the U.S. government’s response to conflict to be more preventative, long-term, and coordinated. It also emphasizes the need to work with local actors and civil society.

Humanity United Action supports this impactful legislation, along with its Senate companion, S. 3368, and calls on Congress to swiftly pass it into law.
